A luxury e-commerce platform and full brand identity system for a premium Nigerian fashion house — built serverless on AWS to the standard of the world's leading luxury retailers.
The project
WON is a luxury brand targeting the premium Nigerian and diaspora consumer market, with no existing digital retail channel. MOW Designs was brought in to build both a complete brand identity and a flagship e-commerce platform — with the international benchmark set deliberately high: an experience standard comparable to the world's leading luxury retail sites.
The platform is built entirely on AWS using a serverless architecture — Lambda, DynamoDB, and Cognito — keeping infrastructure costs minimal while delivering enterprise-grade performance and security. Nigerian payment rails (Paystack and Flutterwave) support cards, bank transfer, and USSD, so the checkout experience meets local customers exactly where they are.
Brand identity work runs in parallel with the platform build: a primary logo system, full colour palette, typography hierarchy, and a brand guidelines package the WON team can apply consistently across every future touchpoint.

The challenge
Every interaction — typography, motion, image loading, checkout — had to reflect a luxury positioning that Nigerian shoppers rarely encounter locally, while keeping infrastructure costs predictable and the platform scalable enough to absorb a sudden traffic spike without re-engineering.
WON had no online retail channel at all — the platform had to be built from the ground up, from brand identity through to checkout, on a fixed timeline.
Cards, bank transfer, and USSD all had to work seamlessly inside an editorial-grade purchase flow — without the checkout feeling like a bolt-on.
The architecture needed to stay well under $10/month at normal traffic while being ready to scale 10× without a rebuild — ruling out always-on servers in favour of serverless.
Once handed over, the WON team needed to manage products, inventory, and orders without relying on a developer for routine updates.
Our approach
Developed logo concepts, a full colour palette, and a typography hierarchy for WON, refined through a review round into a single approved direction, then packaged into a brand guidelines document the team can apply independently.
Designed an AWS-native architecture — S3, CloudFront, Lambda, DynamoDB, and Cognito — engineered to stay under $8/month at 10,000 monthly visitors while scaling cleanly under a traffic surge.
Built the storefront in React with the loading behaviour, motion, and imagery treatment of a flagship luxury retailer — every interaction calibrated against that reference standard.
Integrated Paystack and Flutterwave to accept cards, bank transfer, and USSD, keeping the checkout flow visually consistent with the rest of the luxury experience.
Building the product, inventory, and order management tooling that lets the WON team run the store independently after launch, without ongoing developer involvement.
The outcome
A cohesive logo, colour palette, and typography system built to carry WON's luxury positioning across every future touchpoint.
An AWS-native architecture engineered for near-zero idle cost with headroom to absorb a 10× traffic spike without re-engineering.
Card, bank transfer, and USSD payments built directly into a purchase flow that never breaks the brand's premium feel.
WON is establishing its digital flagship on infrastructure built to match its ambitions — a luxury experience, engineered for the Nigerian market, without the enterprise price tag.
